Lyon captain Cris has urged team-mate Bafetimbi Gomis to shun a move to Turkey and remain with the French giants.

Coach Claude Puel has confirmed Fenerbache are interested in signing striker Gomis, with the Turkish club having made a reported offer of €13million (£10.8million) for his services.

But veteran Brazil defender Cris, who has recently penned a new two-year deal at Lyon, is hoping the 24-year-old France international will decide against the move.

"Gomis is my friend. I love him, he is super cool. I want him to stay," Cris told Le Progres.

"It depends on him, but he should stay. He is too young to go to Turkey.

"He is an ambitious boy, he has the World Cup 2014 in his mind, so it is better to stay here."

Happy

Gomis, who joined Lyon on a five-year deal last summer, has hinted he will remain at the club.

"I am a Lyon player," Gomis told skysports.com. "I came here last season and scored 10 goals in my first season.

"I came here for five years, so I am happy here."
