Lyon continued to march on with a 2-1 victory over local rivals St Etienne.
After a tight first half, former Chelsea midfielder Tiago broke the deadlock for Lyon after 65 minutes.
Yohan Hautcoeur equalised just two minutes later and Les Verts seemed set to deny Lyon their ninth straight victory in all competitions, especially when Juninho Pernambucano missed a penalty for Lyon (83)
However, the Brazilian made amends in the 88th minute with a close-range strike to secure three more points for Gerard Houllier's side.
Lille missed the chance to move third after being held to a 1-1 draw at Troyes.
Benjamin Nivet fired Troyes in front from the penalty spot (39), before Abdul Kader Keita drew Lille level three minutes into the second half.
Toulouse jumped a massive five places to fourth with a thumping 3-0 win over Valenciennes, with Laurent Batlles (8), Fode Mansare (12) and Alber Bonbo (29) all finding the net.
Bordeaux also climbed into the top five with a 1-0 victory over Monaco. Colombian striker Edixon Perea stepped off the bench to score the only goal of the game on 72 minutes.
Nice beat Lorient 3-0 to move off the foot of the table. Former Manchester United striker David Bellion grabbed a brace (11 and 51) and Honorato Ederson added a third (75).
John Utaka scored twice (38 and 80) as struggling Rennes shocked Auxerre 3-1. Sylvain Marveaux also netted (45), before Lionel Mathis scored a consolation goal for the visitors.
Nantes now prop up the rest of Ligue 1 following a 2-0 home defeat to Sochaux. Rabiu Afolabi (27) opened the scoring and Alvaro Santos secured the three points with a penalty (47).
Pierre-Alain Frau (6) set Paris Saint Germain on their way to a 4-2 victory over Sedan at Parc des Princes.
Yoann Lachor (18) levelled for Sedan, before Mario Yepes (50) and Pauleta (68 and 73) struck for PSG.
Mansour Boutabout salvaged some respectability for Sedan deep into stoppage time.
