Delgado: Scored for Lyon
The Ligue 1 title race was thrown wider open as Bordeaux and Lyon both dropped points.
All the top sides in France have struggled for consistency this season and Bordeaux were unable to recover from a shock defeat to Lille prior to the international break as they went down 1-0 at home to Valenciennes.
Valenciennes have improved rapidly in recent weeks and claimed another scalp courtesy of Mamadou Samassa's solitary goal after just six minutes.
Auxerre climbed to the summit as they overcame Monaco 2-0 to record a seventh consecutive win.
Adama Coulibaly struck Auxerre's opener on the stroke of half-time and Delvin Ndinga made it 2-0 two minutes before the final whistle.
Lyon could have moved top with victory over bottom club Grenoble but they were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw.
Grenoble, who lost their opening 11 matches before picking up their first point last time out, battled hard in a goalless first half.
Cesar Delgado broke the deadlock for Lyon in the 65th minute and when Laurent Courtois was sent off for Grenoble moments later the points looked safe.
However, Danijel Ljuboja found the target for Grenoble on 72 minutes to double their points tally for the whole campaign.
Grenoble are now six points adrift of nearest rivals Le Mans, who suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Rennes.
Kader Mangane's opener for Rennes after 10 minutes was cancelled out by Roland Lamah but Asamoah Gyan responded with a late winner.
Lens came from behind to beat Nancy 2-1 at home and move further clear of relegation trouble.
Paul Alo'o Efoulou fired Nancy ahead in the 53rd minute but two goals in the space of three minutes from Issam Jemaa and Kevin Monnet-Paquet sealed an impressive turnaround.
