Silva & Villa: Plenty of interest
Valencia have confirmed that they will listen to offers for David Villa and David Silva.
The Spanish giants have encountered financial difficulties of late and accept that they must part with their most saleable assets in order to balance the books.
A Mestalla exodus now looks on the cards as the one-time UEFA Champions League finalists prepare themselves for the difficult times ahead.
Spanish international striker Villa is without doubt the ace in their pack, and can expect to demand a substantial transfer fee.
The talented front-man has previously attracted interest from Chelsea, while he is believed to be an admirer of the free-flowing football on show at Arsenal.
Silva, who is also a full international, is another to have attracted Premier League interest in the past and there are sure to be a number of clubs prepared to make a move for the tricky winger.
Valencia president Agustin Morera confirmed that the club are now open to bids for the pair, although he insists that they will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.
"For us they (Villa and Silva) are fundamental players but it's not down to me to say who plays and how," he told Spanish newspaper AS.
"If very serious offers come in they will be looked at if (technical secretary Juan Gines) Sanchez and (head coach Unai) Emery think it's convenient.
"If not they'll say that these players can't leave because they are important. We'll do what's best for the club."
He added: "The journalists were saying that all our players were for sale. You'll realise that this is false."
Valencia endured a disastrous 2007/08 campaign, flirting with relegation until a late resurgence lifted them away from danger.
They did, however, manage to claim the Copa del Rey, ensuring that they will be taking part in the Uefa Cup next season.
