Barcelona have confirmed the sale of Gianluca Zambrotta to Milan, revealing the details of the fee and length of contract the full-back has signed.

Milan announced the transfer of the Italy international last month, but the specifics of the deal were not disclosed.

Barca have now revealed that Zambrotta will return to Serie A in a move worth €9million (£7.1million).

The 31-year-old has penned a four-year deal at the San Siro after spending two years in Spain with Barca, whom he join from Juventus in 2006.

Zambrotta's departure is further evidence of new manager Pep Guardiola's overhaul at the club as he builds for next season.
