France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet's proposed move from Lyon to Atletico Madrid looks to have stalled.

It has been reported in the Spanish press that the French champions broke off talks as they were unable to agree terms with Atletico.

Coupet had flown to Madrid with Lyon's permission and looked set to sign for the Spanish side before the late hitch.

A Lyon spokesman said that Atletico's proposal was "not what we were expecting".

Coupet has already indicated his intention to leave Lyon this summer for a club outside France and had even hinted that he would consider hanging up his gloves.
