Hamburg coach Martin Jol has called on Real Madrid to improve their offer for Rafael van der Vaart.

Real have already had one offer for the Dutch midfielder rejected, with Jol describing the bid as 'ridiculous'.

Talks are continuing between the clubs and Van der Vaart has been left out of Saturday's meeting between the two teams at the Emirates Cup.

Jol admits Hamburg are willing to sell the schemer for the right price, but says Real must increase their bid.

Arrangement

"Both clubs are trying to get a deal," said Jol.

"We have an arrangement with Rafael that he can go for a certain amount of money.

"They offered us 7 and 8 (million euros), but that isn't enough...(it) is ridiculous."

Van der Vaart, who has two years left on his contract, has emerged as an alternative target for Real after the Spanish champions failed to grab Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.
