Fabiano: City target
Manchester City lodged an enquiry with Sevilla for Luis Fabiano's services before the transfer window closed, according to the Brazilian striker's agent.
City boss Mark Hughes was keen to bolster his squad and while they failed to land Fabiano they did secure Robinho from Real Madrid.
The Eastlands club are being linked with a number of leading stars following their proposed takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group, although it remains to be seen whether they get their hands on the 27-year-old hit-man.
The Brazil international, who has bagged an impressive 79 goals over the past three season with Sevilla, reportedly commands a transfer value in the €60million (£48.3million) region.
Fabiano's agent Jose Fuentes has confirmed City made enquiries for his client before the window closed, although the striker is currently happy with Sevilla and not looking for a move elsewhere.
"City wanted to sign the player this season, but Luis Fabiano is happy in Sevilla and prefers to stay with them," Fuentes told skysports.com.
"If an offer arrives then we'll pass on the details to Sevilla and let the club decide what the player's future is."
Fabiano, who scored twice in Brazil's 3-0 weekend World Cup qualifying win over Chile, is contracted to Sevilla until the summer of 2011.
