Henry: Hat-trick hero
Barcelona claimed a significant scalp against Valencia, Villarreal salvaged a point after finding themselves 3-0 down while Sporting Gijon and Atletico Madrid played out a seven-goal thriller.
Pep Guardiola's Barcelona were at their attacking best as they brushed third-placed Valencia aside with a 4-0 success at Camp Nou.
A Thierry Henry hat-trick and strike from Daniel Alves sealed the win to leave Valencia eight points adrift of the leaders.
Getafe stormed into a three-goal lead at Estadio El Madrigal as Esteban Granero, Jaime Gavilan and Javier Casquero all netted in the first 29 minutes.
