Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has accused Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson of showing a lack of respect.

The Red Devils chief blasted the Spanish giants on Thursday for reigniting the tiresome Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga.

Real director Pedro Trapote was quoted as saying that a deal had been struck between the two clubs regarding the summer sale of the Portuguese superstar.

Ferguson, irritated that an issue which had dragged on all summer had resurfaced, claimed no such agreement had been made and insisted he would not "sell them a virus".

Objectives

With relations between two of European football's biggest clubs seemingly deteriorating by the day, Calderon has now sort to bring an end to the matter.

"Manchester United did not accept the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid this summer. From this moment Real Madrid focused on other objectives," he told the club's official website.

"It is absolutely false that there exists any agreement with Manchester United about this business, of which I am tired.

"The matter is totally dead and as such I don't want to talk about it anymore."

Insults

Calderon then went on to question Ferguson's remarks, suggesting the United boss had demonstrated a lack of respect towards Los Blancos.

"Our club's code of conduct does not include insults, contempt, or a lack of respect to our opponents. Maybe for this reason Real Madrid are respected in all corners of the world," he added.

"It is sad that a professional with the career of Mr Ferguson can make declarations like these, in addition to some of the other unfortunate things in the last few months.

"Despite that, Real Madrid will never respond with a lack of respect to Manchester United, to any of their directors, nor of course to their fans, for whom everyone has the greatest of respect."
