Arjen Robben believes that Real Madrid must aim to win a trophy this season and thinks that they will be well prepared when the UEFA Champions League resumes at the end of February.

The Dutchman is looking forward to returning to action after the festive break and thinks that Los Merengues should be aiming to end the season as they began it in August.

Despite being 12 points behind Barcelona in the league, Robben has not given up hope of catching them and is also to try and push for the club's tenth European Cup.

"We have already won the Spanish Super Cup, but we want to win another trophy this season. That is very important to us. The team is starting to win games like we should be now," he told AS.

"In January we must start from scratch with our new coach. We have to begin to believe again and start picking even more good results.

"Truly I believe that we can win something. We have to start from zero though and with the Champions League not resuming until February, we have a lot of time to find our form.

"The league is also not finished. Barcelona maybe 12 points ahead and playing better than us there are still a lot of games left and this team has not given up on the title."

Break

Robben is spending the festive break with his wife's family in the Canary Islands, but while he is enjoying the time off he is also thinking about playing again.

"I will go to Tenerife with my family. I will take my wife, my son, my in-laws and my brothers-in-law, because last year I was with my family and this time it will be with my wife's side," he added.

"I want to rest a bit, but I am also looking forward to returning to play. I am physically fit and I want to play again as soon as possible."
