Graham Hunter says he would give Guti "both barrels" following his act of petulance towards manager Juande Ramos during last weekend's derby draw with Atletico Madrid.

Midfielder Guti, who has been at Real Madrid since the age of 10, was unhappy at being substituted against rivals Atletico, and let Ramos know as he left the field.

However, speaking to Revista De La Liga, Hunter believes that Guti can have no complaints at being withdrawn, after producing an uninspiring display.

"I'd like to give Guti both barrels here," he said.

"Juande Ramos got it wrong but it wasn't his fault. He picked a creative player, somebody who's famous for opening games like this. And what happened was Guti let himself down both on and when coming off the pitch.

"Let's remember that in Juande Ramos's first game in charge, which was away to Barcelona, Guti did the exact same thing then. He was in the huff.

"For a player that has so many doubters and is clinging onto a career at Real Madrid, it was shamelessly self-indulgent to play so badly and then come off and blame the coach. I'm very disappointed in the player."

Meanwhile, former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben was another player to come in front of criticism during last weekend's derby, a game that Real were lucky to escape with a point from.

The Dutchman was jeered by sections of the Bernabeu crowd. Hunter, though was quick to remind Real fans that were it not for Robben, they wouldn't even be in with an outside shout of retaining their La Liga title.

Hunter said: "This a highly theoretical debate because what you can't strip away is that Robben is the guy who delivered so many points to Juande Ramos to make them a threat again at the top of the league, producing stunning performances, assists and giving his team mates confidence."
