Barcelona saw their 100 per cent record ended after being held to a goalless draw at Valencia.

Marquitos reduced the arrears for Valldolid on 53 minutes with a clinical finish, but Gonzalo Higuain came off the bench to make the game safe 11 minutes from time with a sublime chipped finish

Sevilla missed the chance to close the gap on the leading pack after going down 1-0 to Deportivo La Coruna at La Riazor.

Juan Rodriguez scored the winner for Deportivo on 38 minutes with a spectacular from the edge of the box.

The win moves Depor level on points with Sevilla and keeps the Galicians in fourth spot in the table
