Lucas Licht is hoping to reach an agreement with Gimnasia after being released from his contract at Getafe.

The Argentine defender is now available as a free agent and is keen to return to his homeland.

He spent the last three years in Spain with Getafe and was a regular for the Madrid-based club until Mane's arrival this summer.

Having fallen out of favour, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the 28-year-old expressed a desire to be freed by the club.

They subsequently bowed to his wishes, releasing a short statement on the club's official website: "After an agreement was reached between Getafe C.F. and the player Lucas Licht, the player has rescinded his contract with the club and ceases to belong to Getafe."

Licht has now set his heart on securing a return to Gimnasia de La Plata, the club where he began his career, with talks regarding a deal already well underway.

"The contract will be signed on Monday or Tuesday, but we have come to a verbal agreement," he explained to TyC Sports.
