Real Madrid have called a press conference on Monday that is likely to see the exit of club captain and all-time leading goalscorer Raul from the club.

The iconic forward has spent his entire senior career at the Bernabeu, scoring 323 goals in over 700 appearances in 16 years and achieving legendary status at the club.

However, the 33-year-old has been told he has no future at the club and will leave on a free transfer, where he is likely to join German side Schalke.

It is understood that the former Spain international has agreed a two-year deal to move to Gelsenkirchen, where they will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Schalke coach Felix Magath spoke of his positivity that the deal will go through, where Raul is likely to fill the void left by Kevin Kuranyi's departure.

"It looks very, very good that Raul will be presented in Gelsenkirchen as soon as next week," he said.
