Barcelona twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw in Valencia, which ended their perfect start to the new season.

But Unai Emery's side remain top of La Liga after an enthralling contest at La Mestalla.

Los Che went ahead after 12 minutes when Eric Abidal put through his own net, but Pedro levelled just moments later.

Pablo Hernandez then stuck for Valencia and they seemed set for a victory, but Cesc Fabregas struck his fourth goal in four games for Barca to seal a point.

Real Madrid have now dropped five points in their last two games as they were held to a goalless draw at Racing Santander.

Big-spending Malaga continued their excellent start to the season with a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at La Rosaleda.

The winner came on the hour with Spanish star Santi Cazorla firing home.

Atletico Madrid handed out a thrashing to winless Sporting Gijon with a 4-0 victory at the Vicente Calderon.

And the hero was Radamel Falcao, who for the second game running, claimed the match-ball with a hat-trick. Alvaro Dominguez claimed the other goal.

Levante remain undefeated as they inflicted Rayo Vallecano's first loss of the season with a 2-1 win at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

Valdo and Sergio Ballesteros put Levante 2-0 up at the break, which was enough as Rayo could only reply once through Raul Tamudo.
