Barcelona defender Carles Puyol faces a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a broken cheekbone.

The Spanish international picked up the injury during Barcelona's 3-1 win over Levante in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Puyol collided with Levante striker Edwin Congo and tests have shown he has fractured his cheekbone.

The injury is likely to keep Puyol out of action for up to six weeks and it a blow for the player having broken his other cheekbone last season.
