Van Nistelrooy: Impressed
Ruud van Nistelrooy has tipped Arjen Robben to be a huge success at Real Madrid because he believes that Spanish football will suit his compatriot.
The Dutch striker has been impressed with Real Madrid's new signings this summer and is enjoying himself under new coach Bernd Schuster.
Robben arrived at the Bernabeu nursing an injury and has yet to play, but Van Nistelrooy believes that the league in Spain will not be as tough on him.
"Spanish football will be better for Robben," the former Manchester United star told Marca.
"The Premiership is very tough and he suffered from that. His football will improve in Spain. A player like him tends to suffer in England, but Real Madrid's style is perfect for him.
"He will bring many things: speed, assists and goals to start with. He is very skilful, especially at dribbling past excellent defenders. He is very versatile and I am sure he will help us considerably."
Van Nistelrooy has also been surprised by the impact that Wesley Sneijder has made in his first two appearances for the club since joining from Ajax.
"His performances in the first two games have been astonishing," he continued.
"It seemed impossible that he would be able to do so well on arrival. Every player needs time to adapt, but not him. He knows what he wants and he is already being successful.
"He is young, but he has already played in a World Cup and a European Championship. This experience is going to help him at Real Madrid. He is a brilliant signing and he is going to help us a lot."
