Ramon Calderon is 'really surprised' by Sir Alex Ferguson's recent criticism of Real Madrid.

Ferguson accused Real of lacking morals on Friday following the Spanish champions' interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester United manager was unhappy with Real's conduct in the transfer market and suggested they are unlike other major European clubs.

However, Real president Calderon has responded to Ferguson's comments and insists the club have conducted themselves 'exquisitely' in their pursuit of Ronaldo.

Calderon is baffled by Ferguson's criticism and insists the club respect United's decision to keep Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

Really surprised

"I am really surprised to hear what he said about us," Calderon told Marca. "I don't understand Ferguson.

"Real Madrid have conducted themselves exquisitely in this whole affair with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We have always said that he is a player who has a contract and that Manchester United is not a selling club. That's everything."

The latest reports in Spain have suggested that Real will use Robinho, who is also wanted by Chelsea, as a makeweight in a bid for Ronaldo.

The Portugal international is currently focused on his country's upcoming Euro 2008 challenge, but expects his future to be resolved within the next fortnight.
