Kaka: On the move to Real Madrid
AC Milan have confirmed the sale of Kaka to Real Madrid in what is expected to be a world-record transfer.
The Brazil superstar was due to reveal the move at a press conference on Tuesday after undergoing a medical in his homeland.
However, the Serie A side have moved first to confirm the departure of the 27-year-old for the Bernabeu who has signed a six-year contract.
A statement on the Milan website read: "From next season, Kaka will play at Real Madrid.
"AC Milan thanked the man and the great champion Kaka for his decisive contribution to the many victories achieved in the six years of his commitment
"The loss of technique, while serious, can be remedied.
"It will be very difficult to fill the void that will be left by Kak, a shining example of professionalism, commitment and professionalism.
"AC Milan, (according to) the wishes of the managers, players and supporters of the Rossoneri, offer him the most cordial and affectionate wishes for the continuation of his sporting career."
Madrid also confirmed the deal on their website. "Kaka is a player of Real Madrid after an agreement with AC Milan," a statement read.
"The Brazilian footballer has now successfully passed all medical tests. Kaka has signed a contract for the next six seasons with Real Madrid."
The 27-year-old is currently with the Brazilian side on international duty.

Fantastic signing for Real madrid, good to see them going back to the worlds best players instead of players like Sneijder who lacks creativity and just falls short of the madrid standard. People who think Kaka isn't that good and would be a flop in the Premier League are fools, Do they not remember him making mugs of Vidic and Ferdinand?! Kaka has only dropped out of the elite group of players over the last 2 years due to niggling injuries, madrid is the perfect place to rediscover his fantastic dribbling skills, well done mr Perez. With villa, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic there will be a class attack, Ibs will perform on the big stage as the limelight will be taken from him, the pressure held him back against united. only a shoddy defence needs to be sorted now...

I remember his debut for AC and I cant believe they have let one of the greatest players Milan have had go to rivals Madrid. Kaka said he wanted to be AC captain after Maldini why did he leave? If Pato follows and moves to Chelsea Milan wont win anything for years. Its not just Milan losing out but the Itailan League as no one will want to watch it now who's there now? Not many world class players left there, not much money so its looking very gloomy. Kaka will be sorely missed I hope Madrid fail to win anything and he comes back!

This is what sets Barca apart from Madrid. They didnt pay a cent for their best players.

Agreed at the moment Barca are an almost indestructable footballing side but it is good to see Real trying to bring in some quality, well known footballers. I am glad that Kaka has gone to the spanish league however as the style of football is much more attractive and he can only add to that with his ability. If he moved to the EPL his footballing talent may be overshaddowed by some of the route one footballing sides which would be a waste of a great player. Good luck to Kaka and Madrid for next season

A large portion of AC Milan fans will never forgive Galliani & Berlosconi for cashing in on Kaka. I myself am one of them. Today is a sad day to be a Milan fan. Milan talk about priding themselves as being one big family. Yeah right... I hope Milan fans in Italy make their voices heard.

Its interesting isnt it. On the day that Kaka becomes the most expensive player in the world our good friend at UEFA Mr Platini has nothing to say. Had any english team made this sort of signing he would have been straight away talking about this sort of figure being immoral and wrong for football or is it just so when it is english teams that are doing it

Well i doubt Kaka's sincerity by saying he is helping AC financially by joining Real.If it was about financials then he should haave joined City,so i think its players power again. All in all i dont think his contribution will be felt immediately,AC and Real play ddifferently and it will take time before he adopts and also Shneider too is a great player who has already adopted the la liga style.I think Kaka has a real challenge ahead

Real Madrid remind me of a kid setting up a dream team, they just think to themselves "Kaka is good, we'll have him, Ronaldo is good we'll have him too" they need to stop bullying clubs into selling their best player and try create some of their own, I hope they win nothing next season ( as was this season) especialy if Ronaldo goes there. I fear all these world class players going to the Spanish league is going to take focus from the EPL being the dominant league, and the more this happens the less they will want to stay in England. I can't see why anyone out of madrid would wan't to support them when they could choose Barcelona "A truley great club in every field"

It's disappointing to see Kaka leave AC Milan! They'll struggle without him if they don't replace him completely. It's questionable whether Ronaldinho can fill in the massive gap he leaves... For Real, however, this is a huge signing! The only problem with them signing such a class act is that, when they usually manage to get their hands on them, the player loses their ability to play to their full potential! Real need to bring in more than one decent player at a time, it will have a more positive affect and maybe they'll start dominating Europe like they used to!

Just hope Perez has learn¿t the importance of ball winners as well ball players and not expect kids from the youth team to step in to do the defending.

I think its a good deal by Real madrid. at least with Kaka, madrid will restore its lost glory and it will be a team to watch come nset season. i love Kaka so much, i love the way he handls football. He is one of my best footballers after Lionel Messi. Kaka is a proffesional footballer and He made a proffessional decision. Congratulation real madrid and congrats to Kaka.

I cant believe Kaka has gone. The thing I dont understand is that Berlusconi is an extremely rich man worth over £6 billion. Surely £60 million does not really affect him? Over the years Milan has brought in expensive rubbish players such as Ronaldinho, Oliviera. The only good buy they have is in Pato but he looks likely to leave. I dont blame him. With Kaka gone, who else can Milan rely on? Instead of selling the likes of Pirlo, Seedorf & the old guard, they sold their best player. However, Kaka is 27 and with that sort of money they can re build a new squad but I do not think they are going to do that. The AC Milan era as a force in Europe is finished unless they buy young players who are good to replace him. I loved Kaka as a player due to his honesty and loyalty but I hope Real Madrid dont win anything. People forget they do not need attacking players, they need a quality defensive midfielder and a quality defender. Look what Liverpool done to them.

As an ex-pat Real Madrid fan, I am pleased that Perez (el presidents) has fulfilled part of his election promises - now for the rest! This is what 'Lee Armstrong' should be thinking about when he states that Kaka will not be enough to make Real the league winning side. Although Barcelona were the super team of last season Real were not that far behind them and it was only during the last few games when they appeared to give up on the chase that they lost a lot of ground. A move for David Silva is now being mooted and there still seems to be a possibility of Alonso leaving Liverpool. With Lasso proving to be a revelation after his transfer from Pompey that looks like a good mid-field to me. I also feel that they should make a serious effort to bring David Villa along with Silva and with Van Nistelroy back they would have a good attacking line-up. That is if Van Nistelroy is still at the club! I read somewhere, the prediction that all the Dutch players are to be transferred, during the close season??? As for the Barca fan Nic Sansome's point about Messi being the world No 1, I have to disagree. I thought he should have been given that honour, the season previously, instead of Ronaldo. However I think during last season the best player was Iniesta and for anyone wondering why Barcelona were so good just watch Messi, Iniesta and Xavi at their best with two players like Eto and Thierry Henry in front!!!!

Kaka has proven himself the last few years to be considered one of the best in the world. He is a class player who seems to give himself so much freedom in the midfield. He can pick a pass well, have a good shot and also get behind the ball to defend. In my opinion he has made the wrong decision going to the La Liga because debatably it isn't the best league around! Until a player plays in the premier league in England and has proven himself there, I believe you cannot consider him the 'best'. Purely for the fact the premiership is the hardest and most competitive in the world and that is where true quality is shown. Pace, intensity, Pressure!

Great buy for Real, he is still right up there in my eyes as one of the best in the world, his dribbling at speed is phenomenal and he is a lot stronger than people give gime credit for. I imagine Milan let him go because they need the money, and with £56-59M they can get at least 2-3 very good players, and Ronaldinho is still in the team, so not short of a playmaker. This will most likely be Kaka's last move of his career, best of luck to him as I really admire him as a player but Real Madrid as we know can be a circus at times, lets hope it doesn't ruin his career...

I think this is a shrewd business by AC Milan. They knew that they would not keep Kaka for ever and promptly got Ronaldinho last year. It's a well thought out plan. Ronaldinho hardly got to play this season because of Kaka's presence. He is going to take over. Expect him to shine this year. He's a class act too.

I'm lost for words. There is no honour in football anymore. Players' words mean nothing as do managers and chairmen, it's pathetic, they go about reassuring fans then suddenly, the complete opposite happens, it's a disgrace. Kaka, who many saw as the consummate professional is in this category too, so if he is, then they all are, Ronaldo at least has resisted thus far, Fergie, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Neville, Giggs, Maldini, Terry, Carragher, Raul, Xavi, Puyol, Wenger...now that is what sincerity and loyalty is all about...they are the last of a dying breed! I hope Ronaldo stays at Utd so my faith in humanity still lives...

In my opinion this is a huge signing for Real, a far more appropriate one than Ronaldo would have been or perhaps will be. I must admit that I'm a little confused by Kaka's thoughts at the moment because living here in Madrid and going to see atleast 8-10 games a season while watching the others on tv, Real have offered nothing at all all season and the obvious domination of Barça make me wonder what his idea is. If he thinks he can turn the team round he is wrong because the current squad simply aren't good enough to compete against Barça and not even he can change that on his own. I understand that players want to compete to win trophies and if that if Kaka's case he's not made a good move and Chelsea would have been a much better choice. I just hope more than anything that he can atleast make affect the way that Real play because it is not entertaining at the moment and I've enjoyed watching Barça a thousand times more than Real this year and they thoroughly deserved the treble that they won. All the best to Kaka but he should definitely realise that he's chosen to play in the second best league in the world as the obvious domination of the premier league continues.
