Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has assured Real Madrid star Guti that his recent performances have been noted.

The experienced midfielder has been in eye-catching form of late, having been drafted back into the Real fold after resolving his differences with boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The 33-year-old was sidelined for two months earlier in the season after becoming involved in a bust-up with his coach in the wake of an embarrassing 4-0 Spanish Cup defeat to third division outfit Alcorcon.

He has, however, knuckled down and forced his way back into contention, earning widespread acclaim for his recent showings.

Guti is now being touted as a possible candidate for Del Bosque's World Cup squad this summer, with the player himself revealing that he would welcome an opportunity to grace the grandest stage in football.

Motivated

The Santiago Bernabeu academy product has not represented his country since 2005, and has only 15 caps to his name, but stands on the brink of a dramatic recall.

Del Bosque admits he would be foolish to overlook a player in such fine form and has refused to rule out the possibility of handing Guti a place on the plane to South Africa.

"What he has said is good," the national coach said.

"That means he is motivated. The door is open to his joining the squad. I look at a player's current form."
