Pellegrini: trouble at La Rosaleda
He said his words were misunderstood - I heard his words and you cannot misunderstand that.
Guillem Balague
Quotes of the week
Rooted at the bottom of the La Liga table, Malaga have only one win in 10 games and the latest gamble by Manuel Pellegrini has left him with egg on his face.
Pellegrini has tried to justify his decision to rest his players against Real Madrid so that they could focus on their game with Osasuna. Unfortunately his ploy dramatically backfired as they lost 1-0.
"He said his words were misunderstood - I heard his words and you cannot misunderstand that," said Guillem on Revista.
"He did say that they did not compete for the points. That is terrible and he was talking to his own fans - they have turned against him because after the game he was whistled.
"We have seen a man who is not even trusted by the board. The vice president of the club who was in Saudi Arabia has travelled to Malaga to meet everybody and to discuss the future of Malaga.
He may stay until the end which is probably going to happen but they have spent so much money for so little. Will the same owner want to stay when they are in the second division?"
Malaga do have key players out but Terry Gibson believes that they are to far off the pace to be saved.
"I think they are in big trouble as they are getting adrift of the fourth bottom spot," said Terry on Revista.
"They conceded too many goals and their defensive record is the worst in the division by a long way. Julio Baptista will help them when he is back fit but I think he is the only one.
"They have got problems and it is a recipe for disaster."
