Torino have sacked manager Walter Novellino and former boss Gianni De Biasi is set to return to the Serie A club.

Urbano Cairo, Torino president, has been criticised for his decision to show Novellino the exit after previously backing the former Sampdoria chief.

De Biasi, who spent two separate periods in the Torino hot-seat between 2005 and 2007, will now return to Italy after leaving La Liga strugglers Levante.

The Spanish outfit sit at the bottom of the Primera Liga and appear doomed to relegation and De Biasi has welcomed the opportunity for a new challenge.

Torino will hold a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to officially announce the managerial changes.
