Mutu: Wanted by Roma

Roma have confirmed making an offer for Adrian Mutu and are awaiting a response from Fiorentina.

Mutu has been strongly linked with a move to Roma this summer after reviving his career with Fiorentina.

The Viola's sporting director Pantaleo Corvino revealed on Tuesday that the club were considering a bid from Roma, who have now confirmed the offer.

"With reference to the news printed yesterday, Roma would like to confirm that they have made an offer for the full rights to Mutu," read a statement on Roma's official website.

"We are waiting to hear Fiorentina's decision and reserve the right to release any further details when we choose."

Fantastic player

Meanwhile, Roma new boy John Arne Riise is hoping Romanian striker Mutu does move to the Stadio Olimpico.

Riise said: "I don't know whether what is said in the newspapers is true.

"But I think that Mutu is a fantastic player and any squad would like to have him."
