Skysports.com understands Blackburn Rovers are closing in on the signing of Australian midfielder Vince Grella.

As revealed by skysports.com last month, Rovers targeted Torino star Grella as they searched for a new defensive midfielder.

Torino are willing to sell Grella for the right fee and the player is thought to be keen on a move to England

Fulham have also been chasing Grella, but it appears Blackburn are set to win the race for his signature.

Rovers boss Paul Ince is determined to bolster his squad and it is believed both clubs are close to agreeing a fee for the 28-year-old.

If Rovers capture Grella he will join Australian team-mate Brett Emerton at Ewood Park.
