Ancelotti: Has club's backing

AC Milan general manager Adriano Galliani is glad the club did not succumb to the pressure surrounding Carlo Ancelotti's position in charge at the San Siro.

Head coach Ancelotti had come in for strong criticism after his side slumped to back-to-back losses in the opening two games of the new Serie A season.

However, the Rossoneri downed FC Zurich in the Uefa Cup last week before brushing aside Lazio 4-1 in the league on Sunday.

Galliani has explained that the club were always fully behind Ancelotti, and is hopeful the weekend victory is a sign of things to come.

He said: "We all kept a cool head and understood this terrible period had to come to an end.

"Can you imagine if we had hired a new coach who then beat Zurich and Lazio, then everyone would've said it was Ancelotti's fault and this new guy was a genius.

"You need patience in football. This is Ancelotti's eighth season with us and we are sticking with him."
