Cagliari president Massimo Cellino has given his backing to under-fire coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Cagliari are currently bottom of the Serie A table having lost their opening four games of the season.

Allegri only took charge of the club over the summer but Cellino has promised to give him time to put things right.

Cellino, who will only review the situation in January, expects Cagliari to pick up their first points away to Lecce this weekend.

"We will continue with our coach and see where we are at the end of the first half of season," he told Corriere dello Sport.

"Allegri has my faith. I have no intention to send him away. He will stay and on Sunday we will get a result at Lecce."
