AC Milan climbed back to within a point of leaders Inter Milan, while Reggina upset the odds as they overcame Udinese to rise from the bottom of the table.

Carlo Ancelotti's Milan continued their fine form as Brazilian ace Kaka struck the only goal of the game in a 1-0 triumph over struggling Chievo.

Reggina avoided a fourth successive loss to down Udinese with Franco Brienza netting on the hour mark at Stadio Friuli.

A hat-trick from Giuseppe Mascara handed Catania a 3-2 victory over Torino as Alfio Contarino's charges made it back-to-back league wins.

Riccardo Colombo broke the deadlock after just six minutes but Mascara restored parity a minute later before handing his team the lead prior to the break.

Nicola Amoruso made it 2-2 from the penalty spot, however Mascara was on hand to secure the points for Catania with 11 minutes remaining.

Atalanta ended a rotten run of five matches without three points after two late goals handed them a win over Napoli.

Ferreira Pinto put Atalanta ahead and then substitute Marcelo Zalayeta was dismissed but Marek Hamsik hit back with a penalty.

The game looked to be heading for a draw only for Thomas Manfredini and Sergio Floccari to score in the dying minutes.
