John Arne Riise's advisor Jan Kvalheim has dismissed speculation linking him with Newcastle.

The Premier League club's interim boss Joe Kinnear has admitted enquiring about taking the 28-year-old Roma defender on loan.

But Kvalheim says the player is happy in Rome, where he moved in the summer following seven successful years with Liverpool.

The agent told VG: "He does not know anything about that and does not think about such speculations.

"John Arne is concentrating on his deal with Roma. He is happy at the club."

Riise earlier declared that he is happy in Italy.

"I have heard that some speculate that I am on the way back to England," he said.

"That is nonsense. I am enjoying myself more and more at Roma. I have the patience and I am getting more used to the Roma jersey."

Kinnear is plotting new signings when the transfer window reopens and a new left-back is thought to be top of his wanted list.

He contacted Roma about a possible loan deal but "that's as far as it's got at the moment", said Kinnear, who added Riise has since got back in the team and is playing well "which changes things."
