AC Milan midfielder David Beckham believes he is ready to make his Serie A debut at Roma on Sunday.

Beckham, who is on loan from LA Galaxy until 8th March, played his first 45-minutes in a Milan shirt when they beat Bundesliga side Hamburg 4-3 on penalties in a friendly.

The former England skipper has not played a competitive game since October but is convinced he is fit enough for the rigours of Italian football.

Milan have been training in Dubai during the Serie A winter break but are due to return home this week before they travel to Rome at the weekend.

"I'm very happy about my first game in the Milan shirt, I'm pleased with my performance," Beckham said.

Great moment

"I feel tired a bit tired now, but that's normal after all these days of intense work. I felt good. My team-mates are extraordinary and it's easy to play with them.

"I'm available (for Roma) and it'll be a great moment for me, whether I play or not. I'm happy to be in this team and this intense period of work has really helped me a lot."

Manager Carlo Ancelotti was also pleased with what he has seen from the former Manchester United midfielder during the training camp.

"Beckham had a really good game doing what he'd been asked to do," he explained.

"Obviously it's been difficult to immediately demand his best when he's only been training with us for eight days.

"I'm very pleased with the work that's been done in the past few days."
