Alberto Aquilani is set to end speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract at Roma.

Arsenal have long been linked with the Italian international midfielder, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

But despite the interest from England and around Europe, the 24-year-old is ready to extend his stay with the Eternal City outfit.

"We are very close," his agent Franco Zavaglia told Roma 24.

"I think we will be sorted by the start of February.

"The deal will be for four years."
