AC Milan returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Cagliari as Fiorentina snatched all three points against Chievo.

Milan, beaten by city rivals Inter last weekend, came out on top of their hard-fought clash with Cagliari to keep the pressure on the top two.

Clarence Seedorf netted the crucial goal for the Rossoneri after 65 minutes and Cagliari could not respond.

Fiorentina extended their unbeaten streak to five matches after coming from behind to defeat struggling Chievo 2-1.

Santiago Morero's opener for Chievo (13) was cancelled out by Alberto Gilardino's equaliser with 16 minutes remaining.

Chievo's Vincenzo Italiano was then sent off and Fiorentina capitalised on their extra man as Adrian Mutu fired home a winner in the final minute.

Genoa climbed to fifth place with a 1-0 win on their travels against stuttering Napoli.

Genoa were unable to break the deadlock in the first half but Bosko Jankovic popped up on 69 minutes to score the decisive goal.

Bottom club Reggina suffered another blow in their quest for survival as they lost 2-0 to Catania.

Ciro Capuano made the breakthrough after 35 minutes to set Cagliari on their way to three points and Alessandro Potenza added a second in the 74th minute.

Sampdoria kept up their fine run of form as they prevailed 1-0 at home to Atalanta thanks to Giampaolo Pazzini's strike on 61 minutes.

Lazio claimed their first win in seven attempts with a 2-0 success against lowly Lecce.

Pasquale Foggia opened the scoring after 10 minutes and Aleksandar Kolarov secured the victory six minutes into the second half.

Lecce drop into the relegation zone as a result of the loss with Torino rising a place courtesy of a 1-0 win against Udinese.

Hernan Paolo Dellafiore was the star of the show for Torino as he scored ten minutes from time.
