Palermo supremo Maurizio Zamparini insists he is not about to sack coach Davide Ballardini.

Pressure is mounting on Ballardini after a horrendous 4-0 derby loss to local rivals Catania.

Home fans vented their anger following the capitulation, and reports suggested that Zamparini would have little option but to dismiss his coach.

However, Zamparini is adamant he is not about to show Ballardini the exit.

"I have no intention of firing Ballardini," assured president Zamparini.

"We lost badly. This is the worst moment of my time at Palermo. Now the players will go into a pre-match training camp and that is all there is to be said.

"Walter Zenga [Catania coach] beat Ballardini 4-0, this is the truth. Now we have to roll our sleeves up and work hard."
