Roma have reached an agreement which will see Claudio Ranieri become the new coach at Stadio Olimpico.

The Serie A outfit are in the market for a new coach after Luciano Spalletti quit his post on Tuesday.

With the capital club having endured a slow start to the 2009/10 campaign it was felt that a fresh approach was required to reinvigorate the club.

Former Chelsea and Juventus chief Ranieri was immediately installed as favourite for the job, despite still having ties to Juve following his dismissal last term.

That has not proven to be a problem, though, with Mattia Grassani admitting that a deal has been struck with Roma.

"An agreement has been reached," said Grassani, Ranieri's agent.

"Ranieri will sign a two-year contract with Roma tomorrow before being unveiled to the media."

Dream

Ranieri started his playing career at Roma and is delighted to have been offered the chance to guide the Giallorossi.

"This is a great satisfaction for me," he said.

"This is a dream come true as I follow a professional journey that began many years ago.

"I am honoured and convinced I will be able to do and give the best for Roma."
