Australia midfielder Mark Bresciano dropped the biggest hint yet that he would sign a new deal at Palermo.

Bresciano and Palermo have enjoyed a good start to their Serie A campaign with the experienced midfielder shining in his new holding role, adopted since the appointment of Walter Zenga as manager.

And the 29-year-old, who joined the Sicilians from Parma in 2006 after a previous spell at Empoli, insists he sees no reason why he would not wish to extend his stay at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

"Of course there's a possibility that I'll stay at Palermo," he said. "I feel very good here and I've got no reason to leave.

"Over the last few years I've never played with such consistency or had the same confidence of the coach and my team-mates, a player couldn't ask for anything more.

"This season my position on the field is a little deeper than over the last few seasons, I'm more involved in the defensive part of the game.

"I'm not scoring so much, I'm trying but it's more difficult now."

The Melbourne-born Socceroo has been capped 51 times for Australia and first came to Italy, the country from which his father was born, in 1999.
