Menegazzo: Happy to move on
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi is hoping to bring Fernando Menegazzo back to Italy in January.
The Brazilian midfielder spent two years in Serie A with Siena and Catania before heading to Bordeaux in 2005.
The 28-year-old is said to be growing frustrated at a lack of opportunities in France, though, and is ready to move on.
With international ambitions still lingering in the back of his mind, ahead of the 2010 World Cup, Menegazzo is keen to find regular first-team football.
Genoa are happy to offer him that and Preziosi is hoping a deal can be struck with Bordeaux.
He told Radio Kiss Kiss: "Menegazzo has given the all-clear to the move. We will have to talk to Bordeaux and hope they don't demand too much money."
Preziosi has also sought to clear up speculation suggesting Francesco Modesto could be offloaded in the New Year.
He added: "Will Modesto go to Napoli? The rapport with (Napoli chairman) Aurelio De Laurentiis is excellent and goes beyond football. It is a shame that in three years of Serie A we have never been able to collaborate.
"However, Modesto is a very important player for us and clearly I would not release him lightly. Having said that, there could be a deal between the two clubs.
"If someone were to ask me for Hernan Crespo, then I would definitely say no. Hernan is a great centre-forward and also in that role the only other player we have is Sergio Floccari.
"We mustn't forget that Genoa are still competing on the international stage (in the Europa League) and so until our future in the competition is decided, we cannot say anything about the transfer market."
