Inter Milan's Ivan Cordoba has revealed he would 'think about' joining Manchester City if new manager Roberto Mancini identified him as a transfer target.

Mancini has been brought in to replace Mark Hughes at Eastlands and will have the chance to make changes to his squad next month if he feels it is necessary.

Speculation suggests another defender will be high on his list as City have struggled at the back so far this season, while they have also been hit by injuries and Kolo Toure will leave for the African Cup of Nations over the next few days.

Cordoba has been linked with a winter move to Man City, having worked with Mancini at Inter, and the Colombian admits he might be interested in a new challenge.

"If he wants me at Manchester City then I would think about it," said the 33-year-old.

Big challenge

Mancini will be expected to deliver almost immediate success at Man City and Cordoba believes he has all the qualities to do well in England.

"Mancini is a great coach and works in a very modern way. I worked with him at Inter Milan and I believe he'll have a great success in the Premier League," he said.

"A great coach should be given a big challenge and nobody can doubt Mancini can achieve a great deal with Manchester City.

"One of his biggest attributes is his direct contact with players. He is not one of these coaches who leaves all the work to his assistants.

"He varies the training all the time and we never got bored during the week.

"He always insisted that it was important to get the training right because it would have a big impact on how we performed in the league games.

"The problem he could face is adapting fast to the English game because the league there is a lot different, but he has all the qualities to do really well."
