Inter Milan missed the chance to open up a six-point gap over city rivals AC Milan after being held by Genoa.

AC Milan were held to a goalless draw by Roma on Saturday and now Jose Mourinho's side have followed suit.

Morinho's team were sterile in attack in a listless first half, when Genoa's Giandomenico Mesto and Giuseppe Sculli and Inter's Dejan Stankovic all had crisp but central shots easily saved.

Lazio's miserable afternoon was compounded when Mauro Zarate was sent off late on for deliberate handball.

Napoli lost ground on the Europa League contenders after going down 2-1 to Bologna.

All the goals came in the opening 14 minutes with Leandro Rinaudo netting what proved to be a consolation after Marcelo Zalayeta and Adailton gave the home side a two-goal advantage.

Siena remain rooted to the foot of the table despite coming from a goal down to claim a 1-1 draw against Parma.

Simone Vergassola's second half effort secured a point after Jonathan Biabiany gave the visitors a first half lead. Parma finished the contest a man light after Luis Jimenez saw red, but they held on.

Atalanta stay second-from-bottom in Serie A following a goalless home draw with Udinese. Substitute Paolo Bianco was sent off late on, but it did not impact the result.

Bari are level on 35 points with Chievo after Jose Ignacio Castillo's 20th minute goal gave them a 1-0 success.

Cagliari and Catania shared a four-goal thriller after their clash finished 2-2.

Although Andrea Lazzari opened the scoring for home side the visitors were in control at the break thanks to Giuseppe Mascara's leveller from the penalty spot before Gaston Maxi Lopez added a second.

Cagliari's plight worsened when Michele Canini was shown a second yellow card, but to their credit they still managed to force a share of the spoils when substitute Andrea Cossu scored on 74 minutes.

Leaders Inter Milan host Genoa in Sunday's evening match.
