Veteran AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi has dismissed speculation that he is going to retire at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old Inzaghi has been a peripheral figure for the Serie A side this season, making just four starts in 23 league appearances.

Rumours in Italy claimed the former Italy international - a World Cup winner in 2006 - would hang up his boots this summer, but Inzaghi has confirmed he will play at least another season with Milan.

The former Juventus star told La Stampa: "The time to retire has not arrived yet.

"I still want to beat some records and I would like to do that with this jersey and for these fans who have always loved me."

Inzaghi shares the honour as the most prolific goalscorer in European club competitions with Real Madrid striker Raul, with both players having scored 68 goals.

Inzaghi has hit the back of the net 39 times with Milan, making him the club's all-time top scorer in Europe.
