Midfielder Hassan Yebda has joined Napoli on loan from parent club Benfica, the Portuguese champions have confirmed.

The former Portsmouth loanee has failed to establish himself at Estadio da Luz since his move from Le Mans in 2008, and will once again spend a season out on loan.

Serie A is the 26-year-old's latest destination where he will turn out for Europa League qualifiers Napoli, who face Liverpool in Group K of the competition.

The Italian club also have the option to sign the Algeria international on a permanent basis when the loan deal expires next summer.
