Karlsruhe midfielder Michael Mutzel has become the latest player to sign a contract extension at the Wildpark Stadion.

The 28-year-old former VfB Stuttgart man has played a pivotal role in Karlsruhe's surprising success this season and has now been rewarded with a two-year extension through to 2011.

"I can play in an intact team here and the whole environment is prefect," Mutzel told the German press.

Mutzel is the fourth player in recent weeks to sign a new deal with KSC as the club attempts to keep its squad together after a hugely successful return to the top-flight this year.
