Engelaar: Moving to Germany
Schalke have won the race to sign Dutch international Orlando Engelaar.
The 28-year-old will follow coach Fred Rutten in making the move from Twente to Schalke after he agreed to take charge of the club for next season.
Engelaar has agreed to the move - which will cost Schalke 8million euros - whilst he heads to Euro 2008 with the Holland squad.
"Fred has given me the chance to develop myself," he says in De Telegraaf.
"He picked me up when I had a less productive period at Racing Genk. He told me that I could become a good footballer in the Netherlands in the position behind the striker.
"As a controlling player he saw a bigger, more international future for me. It took a little time to get used to, but I realised that he could be right."
Twente are also facing a battle on their hands to keep hold of Brazilian defender Douglas.
The 20-year-old has played just 12 games for the club after signing from Joinville Esporte, but now Ajax and Feyenoord are said to be considering making moves for the centre-half.
