Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has given his backing to under-fire boss Jurgen Klinsmann.

The former Germany international has endured a torrid start to life in the Allianz Arena hot-seat since taking charge over the summer.

Seven games into the new season the defending champions currently sit 11th in the Bundesliga, nine points adrift of leaders Hamburg.

However, Rummenigge is confident Klinsmaan remains the ideal choice to lead the club.

Philosophy

"We are convinced about Jurgen and his philosophy," he told Bild.

"For us he is still a great trainer. We have confidence in him."

Rummenigge also refused to agree with those who feel Bayern have already dropped out of the title race this season.

"We have not given up the title," he added.

"I'm a fighter and an optimist. There have always been difficult phases that have ended well, in a satisfactory manner. It will be the same this time."
