Energie Cottbus defender Igor Mitreski has joined Belgian outfit Germinal Beerschot on loan.

The 29-year-old, who has struggled for first-team football at Stadion der Freundschaft after openly criticising coach Bojan Prasnikar in November, will initially move to Belgium on a six-month loan deal.

Beerschot have also secured an option to make the deal permanent should the Macedonian stopper impress this spring.

Mitreski, who is contracted to Cottbus until 2010, has made a total of 63 Bundesliga appearances for the eastern German club.
