Bundesliga outfit Schalke are reported to be keen on Rangers winger DaMarcus Beasley.

Speculation in Germany suggests the United States international features prominently on Fred Rutten's wish list.

Rangers have admitted that they will be prepared to part with a number of their senior stars over the summer as they look to fend off a financial crisis.

That would suggest that Beasley, who has found himself on the fringes at Ibrox for much of his time in Scotland, would be dispensable.

Rutten is known to be an avid admirer of the midfielder's talents, having previously worked with him during his time as Guus Hiddink's assistant at PSV Eindhoven.

It is believed that Rangers would demand around £2.5million for a player they signed in 2007.

Meanwhile, Schalke have also been strongly linked with Uruguayan starlet Matias Aguirregaray.

The 19-year-old full-back is currently on the books of Penarol in his homeland, but has begun to attract mounting interest in Europe.

Schalke are expected to make a move for the talented teenager should they agree to sell Brazil international Rafinha at the end of the season.
