Jurgen Klinsmann has expressed his disappointment at the manner of his dismissal from Bayern Munich.

Klinsmann was sacked at the end of last month following a disappointing run of results that included a heavy loss against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern were still in contention for the Bundesliga title but the tight battle at the top of the table meant UEFA Champions League qualification could not be guaranteed.

They are still two points behind leaders Wolfsburg ahead of the final day of the season and Klinsmann believes he should have been allowed to stay until the end of the campaign at least.

"I got blamed for many things I could not change, this is what really hurts me in this case," he told RTL.

"I could have led the team to the Bundesliga trophy."

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has refused to be drawn into an argument with Klinsmann, who is now reportedly keen to continue his managerial career in the Premier League.

He said: "Jurgen is not regarded as an enemy by us. We made a clear and reliable cut.

"It's not great to part company with a manager at any time. We have, however, assured Jurgen we will not wash our dirty linen in public."
