Christoph Daum is due to take over as the new Fenerbahce coach after stepping down from his post with FC Cologne.
The German tactician, who spent a previous three-year spell at the helm of the Turkish giants from 2003, is expected to replace the departed Luis Aragones.
Aragones, who guided Spain to glory at Euro 2008, was axed on Monday after just one season in the job following a disappointing fourth-placed finish.
Cologne chairman Wolfgang Overath said: "We are sad that Christoph Daum is leaving.
"Christoph thanked us for the collaboration and said he could not refuse the offer because of its very good sports and financial framework.
"We wish him all the best in his new job."
Daum has further experience of Turkish football having enjoyed two spells with new Turkish champions Beskitas, winning three championships and one cup before joining Cologne in 2006.
The 55-year-old guided the Billy Goats back into the Bundesliga before securing a 12th-placed finish last season.
