Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have agreed terms to sign Argentine striker Lucas Barrios from Chilean outfit Colo Colo.

The 24-year-old journeyman is expected to join the German giants, who will be his eighth club, subject to a medical over the weekend.

A fee has not yet been confirmed but is believed to be in the region of €4.5million for the prolific striker, who will join his first European club in a bid to break into Diego Maradona's Argentina squad.

Barrios will replace Alexander Frei, who has returned to his native Switzerland with FC Basel, and Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc confirmed to the German press that the deal is on the verge of completion.

"Generally we have agreed terms with Barrios and his club. Now the only thing left is the medical check," Zorc told German newspaper Ruhr News.

Barrios has been linked with Espanyol and Panathinaikos in the past and scored an impressive 37 goals in 38 matches for Colo Colo last season.
