Bayer Leverkusen moved to the top of the Bundesliga table with a crushing 4-0 victory over Stuttgart, while Bayern Munich eased past Hannover

Stuttgart manager Markus Babbel has come under immense pressure following a run of poor results and they missed a chance to climb out of the relegation zone as they went down to a rampant Leverkusen.

Stefan Kiessling broke the deadlock for Leverkusen in the 22nd minute and Eren Derdiyok made it 2-0 before half-time.

Kiessling found the target again in the 59th minute and then scored from the penalty spot with three minutes remaining to complete his hat-trick and pile more misery on Stuttgart and Babbel.

Bayern Munich kept up their fine form with an emphatic 3-0 success away to Hannover in the day's second fixture.

Thomas Muller set Bayern on their way to three points with the opening goal after 19 minutes.

Ivica Olic doubled their advantage early in the second half before Mario Gomez added late gloss to the scoreline.

The result leaves Bayern six points adrift of Leverkusen in fourth place, with Hannover still in 12th.
