Bayern Munich moved top of the Bundesliga with a thrilling win over Werder Bremen after Schalke were held to a draw at Bochum.

Bayern Munich maintained their title charge with a 3-2 win at Werder Bremen.

Aaron Hunt gave the home side the lead after 10 minutes, but goals from Thomas Muller (25) and Ivica Olic (35) turned the game in Bayern's favour.

Hugo Almeida drew Werder level 15 minutes from time only for Arjen Robben to grab the winner for Bayern three minutes later.

Schalke threw away a two-goal lead as Bochum earned a shock 2-2 draw.

First-half goals from Vincente Sanchez (5) and Kevin Kuranyi (42) put Schalke in firm control, but late goals from substitute Vahid Hashemian (82) and Stanislav Sestak (90) earned the hosts an unlikely point.

Borussia Dortmund leapfrogged Hamburg in the table with a 1-0 victory at the Signal Iduna Park.

Nelson Valdez scored the only goal of the game to give Dortmund the points.

Andre Schurrle's early goal after just four minutes proved to be enough to give Mainz a 1-0 win over struggling Hannover.

Eintracht Frankfurt missed the chance to move into the top six after being held to a 1-1 draw by Nurnberg.

Christian Eigler gave Nurnberg the lead on 27 minutes, but Benjamin Kohler levelled matters for Eintracht five minutes before the break.

Hertha Berlin remain rooted to the bottom of the table after being held to a goalless draw at home to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Juan Arango missed from the penalty spot for Monchengladbach just before half-time as they were forced to settle for a point.
